Leslieville Tree Festival (and native plant sale)

2010 opening days for just few southern Ontario native plant nurseries with public retail hours:
TIP: it's best to look ahead at their retail catalogues on their websites (besides, those catalogues are informative), or even call ahead for availability.

Also: Grow Wild! Native Plant Nursery (near Claremont / North of Pickering; and Omemee near Peterborough) is open now. Owner Paul Heydon says that while they won't have regular public retail nursery hours again until they've completed their move to Omemee near Peterborough, folks are already phoning in their orders and picking them up. Check out Grow Wild's online catalogue
(some really gorgeous native flowers in there) and call Paul at (416) 735-7490 to order. Carries plants indigenous to Toronto, southern and central Ontario.

Thanks, NPG. I'm going to re-tweet this on Twitter. Do you tweet?

Are they closing up shop at their Claremont location and moving to Peterborough? Or are they expanding to Peterborough and keeping their Claremont location too?

They've got a nice selection and great prices, so I'd hate to lose them from my area. Peterborough is about 4 hours drive from me - too far for me to drive to save a few dollars on plants!

Great for those in Peterborough though :o)

I'm trying to find Pitcher Plants and Sundews. Grow Wild had them in their catalogue but they don't sell them anymore. Anyone know where I can buy them? (I'm near Kitchener - but willing to drive or have 'em shipped if necessary)

Hi :)

Yes they're moving their Claremont location to Omemee near Peterborough.

I haven't looked at other catalogues (listed in this post) for sundew or pitcher plants, and i don't see them around either, so I can't offer any help there sorry.

but.. if you're in Cambridge, you'll probably want to check out the Waterloo-Wellington Wildflower Society's annual native plant sale (see the post i just wrote today). and ask them more about where you can source native plants near you.

good luck! :)
